Desco is delivering the M&E design for a range on new and redeveloped education facilities as part of the Government’s Priority Schools Building Programme.

The first batched scheme we have delivered, known a Priority Schools North East PF2, has comprised of 12 schools as part of a team led by Galliford Try; with a combined value of £120m this was the first batch of schools in the North East region to be procured through the PSBP and is made up of six primary and six secondary schools.

The designs, all delivered in BIM, using Revit software, are complete and construction is underway; the first of the schools Hylton Castle Primary School in Sunderland was handed over in December 2015 with the subsequent schools all due for completion ready for the start of the new school term in autumn 2016.

The scheme has been awarded BIM Project of the Year by Constructing Excellence in the North East and will now compete for the national award and is also shortlisted for a national Building Award in the BIM Initiative category.
