Desco were appointed directly by the client Northern Rock for the MEP services design for the fifth and largest phase of the redevelopment of their headquarters complex in Gosforth, Newcastle, comprising a new commercial office building with adjoining multi-storey car parking provision in replacement of the bank’s previous 1960s’ 7 storey tower block.

Described in the media as ‘the finest building in the north’ on its completion, the development has been renamed Partnership House is now accommodated by Eaga Partnerships.

Overall, the £40m scheme provides 15,000m² of high specification, flexible, open-plan office accommodation over ten storeys with extensive meeting and conferencing facilities including external roof-top hospitality spaces, coffee shop and restaurant facilities, a two storey link building to the existing Prudhoe Building and an adjoining multi-storey car park.  

Desco employed extensive computer modelling techniques in the development of the building design, to achieve a highly energy efficient building form/façade.
