Travelodge — River View House

Located on the Newcastle quayside, the former BT office building had been vacant for five years until it underwent a refurbishment to create a new 116 bed hotel. Overlooking the River Tyne, the south of the hotel provides views down the river of the city’s seven famous bridges.

Desco were appointed by Union Property Services to deliver the mechanical and electrical design engineering services on the conversion of an existing office building into a 116 bed Travelodge hotel.

The former office building, which is now the fourth Travelodge to open in the city, was fully refurbished to create ‘River view’. The hotel provides 116 rooms with a bar cafe and onsite parking at the Newcastle Quayside.

The hotel features a number of room types including double room, family room, accessible rooms, double SuperRoom and a family SuperRoom.

In converting the former office block into the popular hotel chain, it was envisaged to bring life back to the western end of the Quayside. It is reported that since opening, the River View Travelodge is one of the most successful Travelodge Hotels the chain has opened.
