IAMP: Sunderland & South Tyneside Council

IAMP is a joint venture between Sunderland and South Tyneside Councils, to be located adjacent to Sunderland’s Nissan Motor Manufacturing Plant and major international supply chain companies offering excellent transport links with close proximity to the A19 and with excellent links to the A1 (M).

The park, which has well advanced plans in place, will have a vital role to play in making suitable land available for development for advanced manufacturing and European scale supply chain industries, providing the opportunity to maximise links with Nissan and other high value automotive industries, as well as the local infrastructure assets, including the ports, airports and road infrastructure. The site will include:

• Up to 260,000m² of industrial floor space over a 100-hectare site.
• A potential road bridge across the A19 to connect with Washington Road.
• A ‘Hub’ to become a focal point for IAMP and potentially include uses such as a transport interchange, shops, a 150-bedroom hotel, childcare and nursery facilities, and education and training facilities.
• Site utilities including a potential primary substation and connection to the local drainage network.

Desco were appointed to review the utility services infrastructure reinforcements, the extent of the new statutory services supplies and identify any diversions to existing statutory services required by the proposed IAMP development located adjacent to the intersection of the A19 and A184 in the boroughs of South Tyneside and Sunderland City Councils.
