T Levels Apprenticeship Programme
National Apprenticeship Week highlights the fantastic benefits young people can bring to businesses and here at Desco we value the important role we as a business can play in shaping young engineer’s futures.
Our staff are our greatest asset and we invest heavily in their continued training and development, providing opportunities to grow and develop from within our own business. An important element of this is to support the next generation of engineers coming into the industry.
Desco are involved in a number of schemes to provide practical experience to students whilst they are studying for their qualifications, including PlanBEE, summer placements, work experience weeks and our own bespoke graduate scheme. In addition to these initiatives we have recently joined Sunderland College’s T Level Industry Placement Scheme for Building Services Engineering for Construction and welcome our first student at the beginning of March.
T Levels are a new 2 year qualification for 16 to 19 year olds with each T Level equivalent to 3 A levels and helps young people develop the knowledge, attitude and practical skills to thrive in the workplace. At the heart of each course is a 45 day work placement that provides the opportunity to put their learning, knowledge and skills into practice in a real workplace environment.
We are delighted to be part of the scheme at our head office in Sunderland and providing the engineers of the future with practical experience, mentorship and guidance from our highly experienced engineers that will help them on their career paths into the building services industry.
