John Douthwaite

Technical Director

John is a Chartered Engineer with an MSc in Project Management, a member of Chartered Institute of Building Services Engineering, the Institute of Engineering & Technology and the Association for Project Management. He has been with the practice since 2006 having started his career in the electrical industry serving an apprenticeship with a local authority before moving into consulting engineering and graduating with a degree.

John was promoted to Technical Director in 2022 and his new role moves him into the lead electrical management role on one of the practice’s major projects, Envision AESC new £450m gigafactory in Sunderland. John led the design of the electrical services for the first battery plant in Sunderland which Desco designed the MEP services for which has been supplying batteries to Nissan for the LEAF for the last 9 years.
