Stephen Smith

Technical Director

Stephen joined Desco in 2013 as an Associate Director and was promoted in 2022 to Technical Director. A Chartered Engineer, Stephen is a highly experienced electrical engineer with the added benefit of having previously worked in both a contracting and a consulting environment and so has a very pragmatic approach to design.

As Technical Director he leads one of the design teams in the Sunderland office, working across a variety of sectors including leisure, commercial offices, education, healthcare and science and technology. Stephen is a key member of the design team and has led the electrical services design on some fantastic schemes in the North East including The Lumen, The Spark and Newcastle Civic Centre refurbishment.
