Once again Desco support's the Cash for Kids North East Mission Christmas Campaign
Staff at Desco’s head office in Sunderland have once again been taking part in the annual Mission Christmas appeal. The initiative organised by Metro Radio’s charity Cash for Kids aims to make Christmas Day special for local children living in poverty. Businesses, schools and charities all take part in collecting gifts for children aged 0-18 throughout November and December, we were working towards our collection date of the 19th December to try and better the number of gifts we handed over in 2018.
On Friday 13th December we held a ‘Christmas Jumper Day’ and raised funds of over £400 which in turn went towards purchasing gifts for our appeal. Members of the Marketing and Business Support Team used the monies raised from the Christmas Jumper Day to complete a trolley dash around B&M and Asda armed with the list of key gifts per age category, they successfully managed to fill four trolleys full of gifts towards our campaign.
The gift donations were collected on the 19th December by the volunteers at Cash for Kids, where they went for sorting at the head warehouse, where the gifts are allocated to the lists of children in need this Christmas.
Donations to the appeal have grown year on year and the final gift tally for our 2019 collection, counted over 140 individual gifts from the team which was up on last year’s. We were all thrilled by the reaction of the volunteers who arrived to collect our gifts and couldn’t believe how much we had.
