Double Win for Teesside BIOS at CENE Awards 2024

The £36m BIOS building won twice at the Constructing Excellence North East awards

Teesside University’s BIOS won two awards at the Constructing Excellence North East awards ceremony on Friday 14th June 2024 which celebrate and recognise all that the North East Built Environment has achieved.

The new science and medical facility at Teesside University won in the Integration and Collaborative Working and Building Project of the Year categories. Teesside BIOS will now go on to the national final in London in autumn.

Desco designed the M&E services for Teesside University’s BIOS building which features leading-edge laboratories for science and clinical subjects, innovative immersion suite and provides modern, flexible learning spaces for students. It offers first-class facilities to train students in the future of healthcare and medical professionals.

The Integration and Collaborative Working category showcase projects which showcase collaborative working to overcome challenges, manage risk and deliver better outcomes. Projects making the shortlist exemplify this approach and demonstrate the benefits of working in a collaborative way.

The Building Project of the Year category celebrates inspirational projects that deliver outstanding outcomes. Judges look for projects which demonstrate the Constructing Excellence principles and align with the collaborative work they undertake with the Construction Leadership Council.

The team behind BIOS included Teesside University, Wates Construction, FaulknerBrowns, SES Engineering Services, Summers Inman and Curtins.
