Desco continue to support Apprentices in the Built Environment

Meet our current Apprentices Tom and Ewan who have joined us through the PlanBEE higher apprenticeship programme.

Desco have supported the PlanBEE higher apprenticeship from inception, the programme has won accolades at the AJ100 Awards and Building Awards for its innovative, tailored approach to learning.

It provides students with a regular salary, a professional qualification and a guaranteed job opportunity on graduation. The bespoke programme’s on and off-the-job training combines lessons at Gateshead College, one day each week, with a series of work placements, rotating through companies including Desco.

Desco Director, Paul Baker,  explaining the benefits of the programme, Paul said, “PlanBEE is a breath of fresh air for our industry. It’s allowing promising youngsters the chance to learn in a real-life engineering and construction environment. It helps equip them with a wealth of knowledge and practical experience to succeed in the wide variety of career opportunities that exist in the construction industry.

From an employer’s perspective, this is giving us the perfect chance to help shape and support the students’ learning and development, meaning as they graduate from their course, they are already ideal candidates for employment with a valuable mix of experience and knowledge under their belts.”

The programme is currently recruiting for September 2019 https://lnkd.in/gfqMFF2
