Neil Duffy Celebrating 25 years at Desco
Congratulations Neil Duffy
We’re delighted to celebrate Associate Director Neil Duffy’s 25th anniversary with Desco today.
Neil joined the company in 2000 as a mechanical design engineer, having begun his career as an apprentice design engineer with the Northern Regional Health Authority in 1987.
During his 25-years of service with Desco, Neil has worked on projects across the country and mentored several young engineers on Desco’s Graduate Programme. His dedication to the industry has also been recognised recently by CIBSE after being awarded CIBSE Bronze Medal for exceptional services to CIBSE and the industry. Those awarded the medal are nominated by their colleagues who believe their service and dedication to CIBSE deserves recognition and celebration.
Neil works in our Head Office in Sunderland in Team 2 under Director Paul Baker who said: “I have had the privilege to work with Neil for many years on some of Desco’s most complex and challenging appointments. It is testament to Neil’s skill and professionalism that our clients regularly request his involvement on projects.”
Over the years he has mentored a number of young people through their degree apprenticeships who are getting first hand industry experience while studying. He is currently mentoring Jessica Selkirk who has recently been named Leeds Beckett University School of Built Environment, Engineering and Computing Apprentice of the Year.
She said: “Since starting at Desco, I have shadowed Neil on a variety of projects where I have been able to learn and grow as an engineer under his guidance. Neil encourages me to be inquisitive and is always happy to offer advice and support in both my work and studies.”
We are proud to have Neil as such a dedicated member of our team and are delighted to celebrate this milestone with him.
