New Role for Cole as Desco Director

The new year marks a new career move for Graham Cole as he joins engineering consultancy Desco’s London office as a Technical Director.

Graham, who previously worked for Hilson Moran, joined Desco at the beginning of January, in his new role. His appointment will strengthen the company’s central London-based team, supporting their continued ambitious growth plans.

He will be responsible for managing a range of projects at the practice, which designs mechanical, electrical and environmental systems for buildings, across a variety of sectors including commercial office, education, healthcare, leisure, residential and science and technology.

Graham is thrilled to have joined the company, which recently celebrated its twentieth year in business. Commenting on his new role, he says, “one of the major factors that influenced my decision to join Desco was the diverse range of prestigious projects the company is currently involved in. I’d heard good stories about the business having a great culture and team-working environment, which also made the opportunity very appealing.” Graham adds, “This new position offers me the chance to get involved in some impressive projects, promising the technical design challenges that I thrive on as an engineer, as well as the opportunity to work with some of our industry’s most talented, experienced engineers.”

Desco’s impressive project portfolio includes current design appointments for the Royal Marsden Hospital’s new Cancer Research Centre in Sutton, Surrey, the extensive redevelopment of the Olympia exhibition centre in west London and a major new collections management facility in Wiltshire which will process and store up to 340,000 special interest objects and artefacts for the Science Museum Group. Graham will bring his technical knowledge and management experience to oversee the successful delivery of these schemes.

Ken Beall, Desco’s Board Director responsible for its London office, and with whom Graham will be working closely, said of his appointment, “Graham joining Desco is fantastic news for the business.”

Ken explains, “Desco’s aim is to provide the best possible service to our clients, delivering a consistent, reliable consultancy service and bringing our innovative ideas and engineering solutions to the table. Graham’s wealth of experience, particularly in mechanical services engineering and sustainable design, will complement the skills and knowledge of our existing management and design teams here in London. With Graham onboard we now have an even stronger team who will continue to focus on providing a high-quality service to our existing clients, whilst also exploring ways to build on that customer-base and grow our presence in the London market.”
